The last couple of days:

Becky's barbecue on Saturday. I'd actually been feeling a bit flat at social occasions during the last week but this seemed to be a change, which was nice.
On Sunday we (beckyc, mobbsy, pseudomonas, Emily and I) went to Wimpole Hall and walked the length of the South Avenue and back. This memorial can be found at the end of it (the page includes some other pictures). Not a huge distance to walk, but it involved rather a lot of wading through long grass, so we were quite glad to have cake afterwards.
I got to meet pseudomonas, who seems like a nice guy.
I spent some time experimenting with image scaling techniques. Linear approximation works pretty well, my various attempts at a cubic-based version are a disaster so far.
I made PuTTY do X11 forwarding properly, or at least more properly than previously (it didn't know how to forward to UNIX-domain sockets, which is no good if your X server doesn't listen on TCP).
