New hotness

I bought a new bike last week, my old one having become old and busted in one too many ways. TTTT it might well be repairable to provide a backup bike, but having got a new one I'm glad I did - it's much nicer. I had a little trouble getting used to having 3x6 derailleur gears at first (old bike has only 3-speed hub gears) but that seems to be largely sorted now.

What else has been going on lately? Watched Strange Days with [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending and greatly enjoyed it. It sounds from the blurb a bit like a Greg Egan short story, and is set in the technological and social future but the numerical past (the climax of the plot centres around a huge Y2K party), which feels a little odd; I wonder if they had that in mind when they mind it (mid '90s). I might wibble about it some more when I have more time.

Y2K

They showed it on 31st January 1999; now *that* was odd to watch...
