[Poll #1011995]

Leave a comment with the motto (and translation if not English).

I hated school in Germany. It was all about bullying me or the teachers. I changed schools so often. They never had mottos. Pupils were rarely keen on learning anything. They were rather trying their best to get rid of the teacher.

I was going to say at the time, but forgot until just now when I'm checking what's falling off the end of my Friends page: I don't actually remember what it was, it's twenty years ago now, and it's not on the school's web page either.

But I should have remembered to check the Wikipedia entry. "Mutare vel timere sperno" (I scorn to change or to fear). Reading the other comments has reminded me that I have a book with a plate in the front, and it's on there too. I don't remember my attention ever having been drawn to the school motto.
