Saturday

Watched some B5 over at Simon's during the afternoon. We're just starting season 2 and a couple of things about it struck me.

Firstly my memory of some of the details had already drifted a bit from what actually happened. Now I've long been quite familiar with the idea that memory is grossly inaccurate but it's useful to have such a concrete example.

Secondly I found the various lumps of exposition, particularly in Points Of Departure, annoying in a way that I don't recall noticing at all from last time round. I know that the primary reason it's there is to do with the exigencies of the TV series structure, rather than incompetent scripting, but it still grated a bit.

Car still causing trouble but now we have a workaround (well, that worked around once) and a next step that should get a more permanent fix.

We went to small gathering in the Carlton in the evening, nice to see [livejournal.com profile] meirion, [livejournal.com profile] beckyc, [livejournal.com profile] ceb, [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending, [livejournal.com profile] crazyscot, [livejournal.com profile] ptc24, [livejournal.com profile] cjwatson.
