I seem to be at risk of communicating by polls again. Dodgy hands don't help; it's better than during the week but not perfect yet.

On Wednesday I pushed my swimming up to 40 lengths, which meets or (I think) exceeds everything I've done since I started. On the one hand I'd like to go more than once a week (or at least, feel it would be a good idea to do so), on the other I'm having trouble figuring out where best to fit it in. Anyway we came 3rd, IIRC, in the quiz later the same evening. Karate on Thursday contained some new stuff, which was interesting; and some stuff we'd done before, which I repeatedly got wrong despite having got it right during grading; and injuring a reader of this journal, for which I can only apologise, though they seem to be OK now.

More B5 on Saturday afternoon, then off into town to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] lethargic_man and [livejournal.com profile] livredor, which made for an interesting conversation about interactive television and strange ancient creatures. (Think whales with vestigial legs; unusual nervous systems; etc) Then to [livejournal.com profile] sphyg's party, where I had a great deal of gin, talked to many nice and interesting people (which on the evidence available I have to presume is the only kind she invited), played games involving rather precarious constructions, and gathered second-order gossip.

Finished off the week at work with a bunch of comments on some documents I've been reading, and getting some barely welcome bug reports. (They're entirely correct, it's just that I'd been mistakenly under the impression that the things they related to would have been tested before.)

Is second-order gossip, gossip about gossip?

On the other hand, is it anisotropic gossip?

(I'm now thinking about the algebra of gossip tensors, which is not what you need at 4am really...)

Yes - finding out who is asking about who, kind of thing.

Is karate dodgy-hands-safe?

It doesn't seem to make them worse...

I seem to be at risk of communicating by polls again.

I was trying to find a tactful way of asking if those polls might not be better served by being posted to a custom filter, but couldn't find a good way of saying, "I want to hear about you, not read polls."

posted to a custom filter

But then only people on my friends list would be able to read them and the associated discussion. So, no way.

This is another use for the "Make this visible to everyone except XYZ" wishlist thingum. :-)
