In theory, tomorrow I'm supposed to be taking part in a reading of the entire radio play of the Lord Of The Rings. Wednesday's all-day rehearsal went well, I was looking forward to it.

But I have a horrible cold, which is causing lots of coughing and is doing weird things to my voice. So it's rather looking like this is going to be impossible l-(

I also have some kind of sore right at the back of my mouth, just to add to the misery. It's mostly irritating rather than painful though.

Hm. might it respond to some cough-medicine?

On the unwise-but-I'm-doing-it-anyway front, a little whisky (or brandy) is quite good for keeping a voice going...

Hope it gets better! Could you change to a role that involves having a cold-inflected voice? :-) Lemsip with added cranberry juice is good for most ills I reckon.

I was just thinking that adding an outbreak of Black Death to the script would be the answer. (Why are their no mass plagues in middle earth? Historical medieval armies were regularly stricken and you'd have thought bioweapons would be just Sauron's sort of thing.)

Argh.

Here's wishing you (a) CAN do it and (b) feel better... FWIW, my throat was dead last week and I couldn't sing a note. But Eru Iluvatar intervened on my behalf...

Mornings are usually worst for me with these things, so by this stage of the day I'm beginning to think it might be OK after all - which risks disillusionment tomorrow morning. But we shall see.
