Lumps are nice, but thick, starchy, sticks-to-itself-not-the-bowl custard is nice too.

I knew a guy at school who always took lots of school custard because he liked it with lumps in it. He said he always tried to make lumpy custard deliberately at home, but to his enduring frustration it always came out smooth however hard he tried.
