I was woken by the rattling of a long mirror leaning against the wall. I checked the house for burglars, found none, and assumed I must have dreamed it.

I'm amazed at how many people manage to be awake at 1 a.m. on a weekday, but maybe I'm just old.

What earth quake? If there was one then not in London or North West London where I live. I am a light sleeper. I would have noticed. Everything looked the same the next day. Nothing moved nor broke. If there would have been one my studio flat would have looked like a complete disaster and might have get one of the box on my foot.

I have no TV nor a functioning radio. If I want to know something I have to look into the internet. I found a report. I know I was awake at that time. No earthquake here.
