As well as being vastly more entertaining than the appendix to Blindsight, this also glosses over the howler the latter perpetrates regarding the mutated gene living on a sex chromosome. (Of which I can't remember the details now, but if you follow it through the conclusion is something like that only pregnant vampires are obligate cannibals.)

I was going to comment that this seemed explicitly to be taking off from the depiction of vampires in Blindsight... then I noticed who the author was. :o)

If you consider that this is set, say, fifty years before Blindsight, it becomes rather chilling when you consider where it eventually leads to.

It sounded partly being based on real scientific research that they did on the boy. He looks extremely scarry. I would like to hear if you know more about it. Is that just made up then including the pictures?

Thank you for the clear answer. He obviously also knows how to manipulate pictures. There some mad people out there who either eat human flesh or try to be a vampire. I don't think there genes are any different than others.
