Re gossip poll

Do you lot really have so little gossip? Hopeless.

Naath denies leering at wombats, she says she leers at mongeese.

No. We've just chosen not to gossip with you because you never pass any gossip on to us.

Yeah, I think "please tell me embarrassing secrets I won't say who said them, honest" can be seen as an obvious social power play :)

If there were good gossip about me I'd probably be happy enough to share it without much restraint. However, such things usually depend on other people.

Of course, the fact that I have would-be gossip that depends on someone else might also be gossip in itself, albeit not very interesting if I don't Name Names.

I would, but I thinking about it made me grumpy so I gave up. It wasn't even anything juicy, worse luck. Whee!

All the gossip I know is private.

Does it count as gossip if it's private?

Mmm, I tend to think of gossip as something that is by definition passed on rather than information "at rest" (and some online dictionary seems to support this view). Of course it could have been passed on within a very small group including [livejournal.com profile] sphyg and not possible to pass on further without a serious breach of confidence.

What ewx said. Or I could tell you gossip about people you don't know... ;)
