Looks like an 80486, or maybe an 80386DX?

Assuming it's an Intel, of course.

Hmm. AMD K7?

The only semi-coherent comment I could come up with in my mind was "Ooooh, pwetty!!"

Which is not even semi-coherent when I come to analyse it closely.

Pentium 1 - because most other things are taken :-)

I'm now reminded of the old family quiz show "Ask The Family" (the old one with Robert Robertson), where one round had odd closeups of common items and the families had to identify it.

AMD Am486 DX2-66?

Because it looks a lot like This one [1] (http://www.photonhunter.co.uk/~art/lj/amd1.jpg) [2] (http://www.photonhunter.co.uk/~art/lj/amd2.jpg)

Pretty close. It's an Am486DX4-100.

It's Socket 7 (or Super 7) but I don't see as I can tell what.

Only it's not. Boo, memory. I shoulda looked at the K6-2 next door first.

Great photos; as regards the chip I'll guess it's some sort of Socket 5 clunker judging by the board. Probably a DX4/50 or 66, and more likely AMD than Intel because of the golden bit in the middle.
