I'm now reminded of the old family quiz show "Ask The Family" (the old one with Robert Robertson), where one round had odd closeups of common items and the families had to identify it.
Great photos; as regards the chip I'll guess it's some sort of Socket 5 clunker judging by the board. Probably a DX4/50 or 66, and more likely AMD than Intel because of the golden bit in the middle.
