Job situation
Oct. 15th, 2002 07:58 pmIt seems to be the week of personal contacts paying off. I've got an in-person interview later this week with nCipher (probably tomorrow but they're not sure yet), sent a CV to Plasmon via one friend and to Smallworld via another.
In other news, I have concluded that any serious relationship with the opposite sex will at some point inevitably include shoe-shopping.

jobserve newsgroup thingy...
Oct. 2nd, 2002 10:00 amIt seems that at least some recruiters are spamming jobserve (in the sense that they're posting the same job more than once). So do I install Cleanfeed, or do I make the message ID of the postings be a hash of the content?
jobserve has a crap ui...
Sep. 25th, 2002 07:17 pm...so I've fed the bit I'm interested in into a local newsgroup. News seems to be a good model for all sorts of things; while at Zeus I turned the perforce change lists into newsgroups, and I'm still convinced that news would be a good base to build something like livejournal on. (And of course it's the one true way to read mailing lists, though whether it's a news server or news reader that makes them look like news I'm agnostic about.) Perhaps we ought to have flexible personal news servers on every PC.
