Ah; I knew about the desert glass (thank you, Neil Gaiman) but thought that was due to a much later (and smaller) airburst event described by a number of catastrophists as being partly responsible for the ~2200 B.C. collapse of the Old Kingdom, as described in the Admonitions of Ipuwer (http://www.touregypt.net/admonitionsofipuwer.htm).
If no-one's tried it, it's *theoretically* possible that a bacon vege burger would taste better than a vege burger or a bacon cheese[1] burger. Some good foods are discovered as accidents or substitutions :)
[1] Note to vegetarians: a cheese burger isn't what you might hope ;)
