They (finally!) decided they aren't interested...

I should explain further. The design of the trolley consists of a frame with the wheels on; in cross section, this has a vertical at the back coming up from the rear wheels, a short horizontal bit at the top and a long diagonal going back down to the front wheels. On top of this sits the basket, joined to the horizontal piece front and back. (Actually there are two cross-pieces at the front and back of the horizontal and it is here that the joins are found.)

Anyway what happened was that just after I'd loaded 6 litres of orange juice into the trolley, the two rear joins (red in the diagram) failed and the front of the basket fell down towards the floor. At this point a staffer goes off to get me a new trolley.

Anyway while they're gone the second pair of joins (green) break too. The basket goes straight down and the frame shoots out the back. So I get to stand around with a trolley now in two completely separate bits for a couple of minutes chatting with another shopper who saw it all while my new trolley arrives.
