Friday I got up early to take LNR to the doctors, packed in preparation for the evening and, in a change from usual behaviour, cycled to work instead of taking the bus. Thinking of continuing this, but wondering how best to find reading time; perhaps I'll turn my usual lunchtime trips into town into book time instead (or as well).

Friday evening [livejournal.com profile] lark_ascending and I just caught our intended train to London and made our way to B-Movie. This was far too hot and for much of it I was too tired to do much more than sit in a corner, but it was nice to see everyone, and I did wake up towards the end a bit. Overall: definitely tempted to go along again in the future, hopefuly with LNR and hopefuly a bit more with it.

Why does Richard keep breaking at social occasions? )

Headed back to Cambridge after lunch on Saturday, then off to the Veizla in the evening. Enjoyed the mead at the reception, took a bunch of photos, then headed over to the dinner proper. There were some pretty good responses to the challenge (I explained why the Assassins were really Jómsvikingar) and I ended up with a large number of duck-themed remarks on my menu. Thence to the aftermath, which is somewhat alcohol-hazed but was definitely fun. Judging by some of the photos LNR must have got her hands on my camera at some point l-)

(For those who have no idea what I'm on about: the Veizla is the annual dinner of Jómsborg The New, and thus effectively also of CUSFS. They're not actually a sub-conspiracy of the SGO, but there is a considerable overlap, CUSFS being one of the groups the SGO grew out of. By tradition we hand our menus around the table and sign them, usually with additional remarks appropriate or otherwise.)

Sunday so far has been pretty lazy, but is going to have to involve some washing up at some point. The lawn was looking pretty parched, so I watered it; LNR had already done the other plants. Our "jukebox", i.e. random play of all the encoded music on my hard disc, is now web-enabled, albeit without many features, and probably in need of password protection!
