Nov. 15th, 2003 10:58 amHaving recently read a book on the history of the Ottoman Empire, one of the striking things about it was the high levels of religious tolerance compared to western Europe in the same period. (Arguably the mixture of beliefs within the empire made this a practical necessity as much as anything, but nonetheless.)

Nov. 15th, 2003 02:57 pmWednesday was swimming - 30 lengths, which is more than I've done any other time this year by about 50%, and more than Becky did too, albeit only by dint of arriving earlier and leaving later - and then watching the extremely funny Bad Taste which I've already mentioned. Thursday evening was a nice time at the pub; Friday we went to B-Movie though I wasn't really in the mood for it and left quite early; I was pleasantly surprised to run into naath on the train. Today I've been having another go at improving the rather poor paint patching on the car; I think it's better than it was, if still rather amateurish.
Work has seen undeniable progress, just a bit slow and mostly not where I'd been hoping to make it. Friday afternoon was a big brainstorming session on how we can improve the way we work; I'm reasonably optimistic that it'll lead to some improvements.
