So Friday night some of us went to see The Wicker Man at the cinema. This film is about as old as I am, and in this case the quality of the film suggested that it so was the actual reel. (Though I seem to have maintained better color balance and less crackliness myself over the same time period.) This was a bit of a mismatch to the high quality of screen 1 at the Arts Cinema, as was the dozen or so people packed in the vast room. Still, I enjoyed the film; it's an effective mixture of the comic and the horrible.
Saturday evening we got the barbecue out for the first time this year, and had a bunch of people round. This went very well, I particularly liked LNR's cake (and so did everyone else, judging by its blink-and-you-miss-it consumption). We had a very lazy Sunday, watching the videos we recorded last night and then Armageddon which is silly but fun; if you want to save the world, call Bruce Willis. On which subject I notice that he's in the upcoming Sin City; I wonder if they'll do justice to Frank Miller's artwork?
Sunday night I didn't sleep well leading to a rather lethargic day; tiredness and having been drinking quite a few evenings lately led to abandoning the idea of going to the beer festival's first evening. (So instead I spent nearly £500 on computer bits.)
