Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Aug. 1st, 2005 04:16 pmCharlie and the Chocolate Factory was fun. It probably won't surprise anyone that Johnny Depp was well cast, but I thought Adam Godley did a good job as an uncomprehending and despairing Mr Teavee. His son, updated for the video game era, was amusingly cynical, too. And I liked the Ooma Loompas - the obvious risk they avoided was of being a leftover special effect from Lord Of The Rings.
The IPR politics we saw in it seem unlikely to be strictly a matter of authorial intent l-)
