I'm not sure what's gone wrong with the CCD width value there...

I'd guess that it assumed that you cropped the photoas opposed to resizing the entire image. That would also explain why you had a silly 35mm equivalent focal length.

That'll be another bug in “Digital Photo Professional” then. It has an annoying habit of losing its tool palette too. Maybe I should see if the Windows version works better...

I'm not entirely convinced by the 35mm equivalent value either, which would put you at a guess several metres above the car parking area…. But I guess it's calculating that off the CCD width.

Yes, the "equivalent focal length" is calculated from the sensor size and real focal length. It's a misnomer anyway - for anything except the angle of view the real focal length is the one that matters.
