Nuclear explosions taken with a shutter speed of 10-8-10-6s.

There seems to be a shortage of information on the web about how these particular cameras actually worked but [livejournal.com profile] brrm dug up this description which says they use Kerr cells (which are more widely described once you know that's what used).

Exploding ammonium nitrate (http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~net20/AN-10.jpeg) taken with an exposure time of 460ns and an inter-frame time of 40ns. I admit it's not as pretty as the nuclear explosions.

Also, on a different experiment, we have a rotating mirror camera from 1950s nuclear tests. It's great, even if we don't have the original shutter system.
