I've booked a couple of weeks off work in July.

The nearest thing to a well-formed plan I have so far is to wander around Kew Gardens sometime on a weekday and see what there is of interest to photograph. (They don't allow photography at weekends.) Company not unwelcome, but I might not reliably pay much attention to you unless you look particularly interesting at high magnification.

I'm also open to suggestions of other places to go that have interesting things to photograph (not necessarily ultra-closeup shots like I've been taking lately).

Really? I read that as Kew not allowing photography with a tripod in the glasshouses at the weekend, but that photography otherwise (with tripod not in the glasshouses, or without a tripod anywhere) was allowed.

Ooh. I haven't had a good photography ramble for ages; if I'm still out of work I might come and join you :) (Also Kew looks not un-driveable since it's right near the end of the M4; I'm too skint for train tickets really but I might be persuaded into liftage..)

If you're still interested I'm now at the point of planning this. Any days in the next two weeks particularly convenient/inconvenient for you? (See also the thread with [livejournal.com profile] doseybat below.)

The only duff day is next Wednesday, when I have to be in Cambridge for 6pm to go to bellydancing, but that's the last class of term. Other than that it's just a question of getting back in time to get dinner before putative band rehearsals.

Hum, if you mean this Friday, we have a gig. I'm a little loath to be worn out and sunburnt for it... and it's too damn hot at the moment too. Would next week be more difficult?

I nearly fell off the chair laughing at this ;-) Adrian doesn't thank you - he's upstairs, and *was* asleep ;-)

One of my PhD subjects, Leptopus colchicus, is currently flowering near the Temperate House and its flowers are too small for me to get any decent shots. Chocolate is on offer if you could do a pic! It has little green flowers and fruit, both about 7 mm across, but is extremely elegant *grin*

I'm a bit busy in the immediate future - how long is it likely to last?

Until about September - October judging by previous years, so no rush!

Most days are ok, except the beginning of next week is a bit busy. I can be around 12 - 2 or after 3; could let you in in the morning to wonder around and meet you later?

We are currently thinking Monday (24th).

I'm slightly confused by the offer to help getting us in - I was expecting to just pay the day entrance fee and thus get in.

In the interests of being able to make contact on the day, my cellphone is 07971 347834.

Yes indeed! Don't know at this stage whether it'll be just me or whether Vicky will be along too, however.
