I have 13 days paid leave to take before the end of November (and will probably take them in the 2nd half of that month).

What would you do with them?

(... for that matter people are welcome to express an opinion as to what I should do with them too. About the only certainty is that it'll involve putting up a shelf if I've not got round to it by then.)

I would... not have to get up at 6.45am every morning, and therefore be Happy (TM)... but then, I'm easily pleased...

If I had to take 13 days off before the end of November I would...

If I had the money I would definitely think about going back to Son Palou (http://www.i-escape.com/sonpalou.php) in Mallorca for a week of sunshine and total total relaxation.

If I didn't have money I would go to Scotland or the Lake District camping for a week somewhere really really peaceful.

The second week I would spend at home doing the garden, maybe decorate a room or two.

The last three days I'd do a couple of treats, Alton Towers or a day at a Health Spa.

Mmmmm.

You should do something totally different to what you normally do! That's my advice *&)

I'd go to Aachen, stay at the youth hostel and do the Christmas market for a couple of days, perhaps nipping to Maastrict and Liege while I'm at it. *grins*

I suspect you don't share my insane love of Aachen Christmas market, however, so that might not hold the same appeal for you.

Damn. I forgot Aachen when trying to get the first-in-the-gazeteer places, and went to Aarhus instead.

Well, Aarhus has the Aa.

I'd install some central heating.
In the rather unlikely event you want to do the same and don't have a failed system to replace, feel free to come and do some of mine....

Is it possible to take them all in half a month?

(Sorry, feeling pedantic. I know what you mean.)

I would wait a couple of weeks more and then take every single monday off for the rest of the year.

Well, maybe not, but it's very tempting.

I'd probably sort out things around the house, do some computery-upgrade stuff (e.g., I postponed IPv6 when I discovered IPv4 address space isn't embedded in IPv6 address space so on the face of it it looks more complicated than I expected) and do some infrastructure-enhancing programming.

Do I have your budget or my budget? What's your budget?

Go somewhere sunny. I hear good things of Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Hmm, November is NaNoWriMo, isn't it?

This is if it were me, rather than asking you to do them BTW but:

  • Tidy my room properly, including all the stuff under the bed
  • Buy tile paint and clean and paint the bathroom tiles
  • Mow the lawn
  • Veg out and play lots of Starcraft
  • Repartition, install ubuntu, rescue what I need from old disk
  • Read a lot
  • Go to whitby and visit my parents (OK that's what I *am* doing)
  • Knit
  • Tidy the living/dining room properly (ie put books away), hoover house
  • Get out and about on my bike a bit

Dunno what else. I'd go away properly if I had the time *and* some more money.

Come to California and enjoy wine country, river rafting, hiking, and our vast variety of cuisine in the Bay Area. Also, that way you can enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with one of your CA friends.

I would move house, settle in, and sleep lots. I would probably also visit the seaside, and maybe my Emily.

I'd probably tidy the house and do some DIY, in truth.

But I'd quite like to do a little brisk grand touring in Europe.

Go to Rome/Barcelona/Prague.

Alternatively, do to Moscow to Prague tour with Imaginative Traveller that I have had my eye on for a while :).

Also get my shower fixed and get/put up some new curtains.

All of which is budget dependant :(.

However I _have_ just got work to agree to me taking a month off next autumn to visit my brother in Aus - cool! And I have time to save before then...!

I would spend part of them 9-to-5-ing on sorting out the house: a disciplined assault on all the oustanding DIY and cleaning jobs.

You could try a long holiday, but short breaks to any European city would do: try Rome, Madrid, Florence... Or the cathedral cities of England, for that matter: ask [livejournal.com profile] hoiho about travelling the country with a copy of Pevsner.

A coast-to-coast walk would work, too.

Catch a train to Israel. I haven't figured out how long this will take. Fly home again.
