We visited Paradise Wildlife Park, primarily to see their red pandas. These creatures aren’t particularly closely related to pandas (rather, they are much closer to racoons, badgers and weasels) but they do consume a great deal of bamboo.

That said, we found them more interested in fruit; once they’d had a bowl each their enthusiasm for bamboo leaves was a little on the patchy side.

Another difference from pandas is that they are much more willing to breed - the ones we met were two parents and their two offspring.

The zoo had woodland and farmyard sections.

We didn’t get to feed the cheetahs l-) The enclosures for the big cats are well equipped with raised walkways, yielding a good view.

They had a visitor helping feed the insurance salesmen meerkats, too.
