So we made our down to London on Friday after work and coincidentally met up with [livejournal.com profile] simonb, [livejournal.com profile] ejde and [livejournal.com profile] daneel_olivaw on the train. [livejournal.com profile] lnr and I made animal noises at each other. On arrival at KX we followed Andrew to a pub for food, where we met up with everyone else. Then to B-Movie.

This went much better for me than last time, and having LNR around really made a difference. My memories are disordered and fragmented: drank some, danced lots, collected CDs from [livejournal.com profile] damerell (ta!), invented a theory with [livejournal.com profile] mstevens about learning sign language to be able to communicate above the too-loud background noise, good to chat to [livejournal.com profile] ghoti, [livejournal.com profile] fluffymormegil evidently the air-guitar champion of the evening, feeling tired but still energetic in the small hours.

At some late hour we went to [livejournal.com profile] lusercop's to crash, where there was about as much computer kit lying around as I'd expected, more or less. Talked about RFID and interesting computer and security stuff on the bus back. Slept well, talked Poi all the way back to KX.

Thence up to Ely for the folk weekend, more directly than originally intended as we were running somewhat late. Waited for the others to arrive sitting in the shade of the box office, overheard some people asking endless stupid questions about the charge structure and completely failing to understand any of the answers. They'd finally either given up or bought some tickets by the time we were ready to move.

Caught the second half of the afternoon concert, thought Rory McLeod good and John {Spiers,Boden} quite listenable. At some point LNR and I started working our way through what ended up being copious quantities of cider. LNR started waving her poi around and this attracted the attention of some pleasant (and more than a little gothy) poi enthusiasts from Basildon. I spent a while spinning too and now have symmetric blisters and very achy shoulders. To escape the sun we headed into the main tent, where the only other thing going on at the time was Oysterband's sound checks, which made good background noise.

Food was cod and chips after a length wait in a queue; shortly the tent started filling up for the evening concert. Rory McLeod again; the two Johns, much more relaxed than earlier in the day; Malinky were OK; and Oysterband were absolutely excellent. Bounced around lots, talked rubbish on the way back to Cambridge.

I'm now aching, blistered, peeling a bit from the sun (though not as badly as last time) and have an extensive collection of insect bites, something I don't usually have so much trouble with. But I had a good time...
