Time passes
Jan. 3rd, 2004 11:52 pmThe pub turned out to be closed on Thursday so we invited #chiark to join us instead, and a few duly turned up. After some conversation we ended up watching Shrek (for which I see there is a sequel with John Cleese in the pipeline) and then catching most of Breakfast Club on TV, my thoughts at least being similar to other people's.
On Friday I went swimming again; in the evening we had some friends round for wine, pizza and the gloriously nasty Shallow Grave. Duncan had brought A Very Scary Solstice, which was extremely silly.
Today I went into town and spent too much in Waterstone's and HMV, and have spent most of the time since reading some of the results (so far got through book 4 of Alan Moore's Promethea and the third Lucifer), with a couple of episodes of Yes Minister as loaned by Andrew to finish off the evening.
While I'm talking about books I'm still also reading through Absolution Gap, the latest Alastair Reynolds, and have concocted a plan to read Gibbon's Decline And Fall this year. My unread list remains ridiculous.
