...this evening Becky borrowed Gibbon's Decline And Fall (by Sheri S. Tepper) and Rachel asked to borrow Gibbon's Decline And Fall (by Edward Gibbon) as I get through each volume. I must find a book on ageing and clumsy Hilobatidae for someone to borrow.

:-) I remember being pleased to find a copy of Lemprière's dictionary in one of the Galloway & Porter sales. I had absolutely no need of it; I just liked the idea.

The Tepper book is one of my favourites. My mother used it to subvert a fantasy-hating friend of hers, because it starts out as just an ordinary story of Women Being Badly Treated By Men (as per usual Tepper) and only slowly introduces the fantastical element, by which time the plot has you suckered in ...
