Ooh, I like the look of Robinson's chapel. My college (http://www.stcatz.ox.ac.uk/) didn't even have a chapel, it were that modern.
The architecture did play a part in my choice: not only did I genuinely find the concrete-and-glass pretty, but I felt no institution looking like that could be accused of stuffiness or exclusivity.
As I pointed out before, Oxford and Cambridge between them admit about 1% of the population.
It seems those places are filled by selecting people who are enormously competent in their chosen subject, which is all well and good. However, in an effort to put enough bums on enough seats in the lecture threatre, a lack of more general excellence is often ignored.
Then again, moodymuse hasn't got into Cambridge yet, and we may be counting chickens before there are even any eggs.
She's not going to get into Cambridge - she doesn't have any A-levels, and describes herself as "wanting to do natural sciences but maybe change to vet". I keep trying to stop myself wasting time commenting on the whole thing, but she said bad thing sabout Queens'.... *sniffle*
