Oh, and I'm nearly at the end of the second volume of Gibbon. He doesn't think much of Constantine at all (nor Constantius, but nobody calls him "Great" anyway), and can't get enough of Julian. Neither of these observations are particularly surprising given the earlier chapters in the book, I suppose...
