Dec. 18th, 2003 11:50 pmWell, I'm 30.
Yesterday we went to see Return Of The King, which was very good. You'll have probably heard the complaints about which bits they left out by now; suffice it to say that I think they could have quite easily filled some of the lacunae and that there were a couple of places where I expect to see insertions in the extended edition (two, maybe three, bits failed to make sense unless you already knew what was going on and a fourth would surely have kept someone new to the story at least thoroughly on their toes). Had a lengthy discussion about it with friends afterwards and then another this morning with Carl.
Woke up to a birthday present from LNR in the form of a radio-controlled clock, which has now deduced the correct time and merely requires us to find the right place for it; an a copy of Ilium by Dan Simmons. After work we went to the pub and had a nice time with a selection of the usual crowd.
Work has reached a nice milestone, the thing I'm working on now says yes and no in the right circumstances, though most of the user interface is missing yet. Up to a point spending a huge amount of time on design has really helped, though there are a couple of places where there's too much detail in the design. Something to work on next time around.
Kind of feeling like there've not been enough hours in the day (for anything, not just work) for as long as I can clearly remember, and that there's nothing obvious to change to fix this. This is better than boredom, but I'll be glad of some time off work...
