Things from the last few days:

A slightly impromptu visit late on Friday to the botanic garden to see the Titan Arum, provoked by an unexpected phone call from Becky. Everywhere I've been lately people have been talking about this plant, and we had to queue for about an hour to see it. There wasn't much to smell, as far as I could detect. In one pot next to it they had another of the same species but in its leaf form - it resembles a small tree except that the "trunk" is mottled green; at the time of writing you can make this out on the webcam, to the right of the flower. Also visible was a closely related but much smaller species of plant, in this case already showing fruit.

The rest of Friday evening was a nice dinner in with LNR, and Cruel Intentions on DVD, which was viciously funny.

Saturday morning I went with Becky and friend to The Milton Maize Maze. It took us about an hour and a half to find all the clues scattered through the maze (by the time we'd found them all we'd also worked out where the exit was). I was very glad of cold drinks and ice cream once we'd got out.

Saturday afternoon and evening was Tony's birthday party, which I was much more able to cope with once it had stopped being too hot; I was still sufficiently tired that I left relatively early though. I pressed Karate leaflets on a few people who'd expressed an interest - anyone else who wants one should just ask.

Sunday morning we fitted in a bit of extra informal Karate practice, what with grading getting rather close. Every little does seem to help, but lots is needed l-)

Sunday afternoon has proved rather flat so far...

Do you reckon mdw would enjoy the Milton Maize Maze? If so, could you please make enthusiastic noises at him, since I want to go, and am having trouble persuading him to tag along. (-8

No idea - I could mention it to him tho. But you've got a while to convince him, I'm afraid it's closed now.
