Though most of the candle-lit dinners I've taken part in (and therefore most of the opportunities for burning my fingers) are the religious kind rather than the romantic.
I recall one time, they ha da window open somewhere, and the not-unpleasant breeze caused the candle to burn so fast there was a pool of wax on the table after 15 minutes.
