I think I read somewhere there were going to be a few two-episode stories. I'm not sure they've made the best use of it so far; all the business with locating the Doctor and seizing him at gunpoint was a bit pointless - he'd have gone along willingly anyway. OTOH examining the effects of the Doctor's habit of casually whipping people away from their loved ones was well done and not something I recall being much considered in the past.
Oh, and if (from her Mum's perception) Rose didn't call any time while she was away for 12 months, what time was the far endpoint of that phone call she made from AD5E9 in the previous episode?
