Only southerners watch the BBC?

The BBC spokesman denied any bias and said the bottom of the map appeared larger because it is a 3D forecast and the south is "slightly larger as it is closer to the viewer".

Only Southerner's have electricity to watch telly, innit? :-)

More to the point, there have been reports of some colour-blind people not being able to read it (not enough contrast between the clouds and the background) It's probably not that clear for anyone with remotely dodgy eyesight really.

Bring back the magnetic board I say.

I can't make sense of it, and there's nothing especially wrong with my (corrected) vision. Are the shifting patches of different shades of brown (foreshadowing of parched earth to come?) cloud cover, temperature, a random squid in the software, what? And the scanning from one region to another makes me feel nauseous.

It's a bit like being in a flight simulator which is being operated by a drunk. I really can't tell what's going on - I think the main problem is that someone's forgotten that an abstract representation of something can give the user more information than an attempt to imitate what it actually looks like. What would be far more useful would be a 2-D map with the UK staying where it is and the cloud moving in a contrasting colour (say light green vs dark green), and the rain in another colour or texture. Pretty well what they had before, in fact. It's also interesting that they are being very defensive about all the complaints (effectively saying "people only ever ring us to have a moan, they don't represent the public"), which is not the way they deal with other incidents which cause a lot of complaints.
