I haven't quite finished this yet, but it's definitely started on the wrap-up (perhaps more noticable in Simmons because you get used to books where you reach the last page and there's another book or three to go) - the side-conflicts are being finished off and the real one is finally underway. I'm expecting the overall resolution to involve a pun.

It's making me want to re-read Lord Of Light.

I've long thought it a shame that people bang on about Amber when there's stuff like Lord of Light and Creatures of Light and Darkness out there. I think I need to track down a copy of the latter, actually...

It's interesting, actually, because grandfather introduced me to Lord of Light, and for ages I couldn't find anyone else who'd heard of it.

I did think Amber was very good, just not as good as LoL, which has a place as one of my all-time favorites, partly because it's a bit obscure, and partly because it's *exactly* the sort of book I like.
