It is when you're Lord Sainsbury: he's a billionaire. A couple of million quid is say 1/1000 of his personal wealth. or about a tenner to me...

Yeah, but when someone's that wealthy they damned well ought to pay someone the equivalent to you and me of a pound a year to keep track of it all and check such "mistakes" don't occur.

And regardless of the morality of the situation, he's certainly going to have to face the consequences in the press.

This all reminds me of the comparisons that were circulating about Bill Gates in the late nineties: apparently he could afford to buy a 747 to take him somewhere more easily than normal people could buy a sardine-class ticket, and stooping to pick up a thousand-dollar bill lying in the gutter would be a waste of his valuable time.
