I've no idea about the quality of the Java bindings. My principle GUI experience outside GTK+ is Tk, and GTK+ I've found much easier to get good results from. GTK's concepts are fairly uncontroversial for GUI libraries.
...and its filename is small-d disobedience. Err, yes, that should possibly be fixed. Although you are using it to talk to DisOrder, so perhaps it makes more sense like this. I'm not sure.
