Details, including photographs, of Tom Stephens came from MySpace

...I noticed when the first article about his arrest appeared that the photo of him was the same as the one on his Myspace page. I wonder if the BBC bothered getting permission to use it?

The Copyright, Designs and Parents Act 1988 does not affect the common law concepts of "fair dealing" and "public interest defence". In The Act, "fair dealing" is defined as "private study and criticism and review and news reporting". Since the BBC is presumably using the photos for the latter they are probably OK.

It's a photograph, so I believe those provisions do not apply. See s30 (2) of the act.

They're going to be in trouble if it turns out that it isn't him. There's been another man arrested:

Stephens does seem remarkably open.

On the other hand, Huntley was also interviewed by the media before his arrest, and he too seemed charming at the time. But if Stephens has that sort of duplicity, why wouldn't the bodies have been better concealed?

The police have got their man, they're sure,
He never left the scene.
Indeed he led the hue and cry,
A most unusual thing.

Mmm. Suffolk police do arguably have previous form for wanting to clear up murder cases even on somewhat shaky evidence, so I am keeping an open mind for now...
