...this time in Paris. Law enforcement seems to manage remarkable success in finding the stuff; it makes me whether they're just being lucky, or whether there's just lots of it around. Or perhaps it just makes the news more now...

I'm just amazed at anyone managing to make it succesfully in any quantity. The production process is long and repetetive and gives plenty of chance for self-contamination.

Perhaps they've got hospitals notifying them of people with relevant symptoms then l-)

...more likely, one of the precursors is sufficiently obscure that it's worth making purchaes of it notifiable.

Likely; primary symptom being rapid onset of death!

The precursors are castor oil beans, and acetone. You can't buy castor oil beens in UK garden centres any more, my gardening contacts tell me. But as you only need a smallish quantity - a small bag - it's going to e hard to completely control supply.
