The "aren't reporters shite" gene in me feels compelled to point out that whilst the Inde claims that nearly 3,000 acres of land is going to be bought, the HLF press release says 1452 hectares (3588 acres).
The National Trust people at wicken fen bought some land to do this to years ago; they immediately ran into the barrier that they didn't know _how_ to turn fields into fenland. I suppose just flooding it is a start.
