I thought "take it to church" sounded the most plausible, partly for linguistic reasons but mostly because it didn't seem like the sort of example you'd randomly make up. Googling after I voted confirmed this. However, I actually voted "run away" instead, because I wouldn't in fact take one to a church since that would come under the heading of unnecessary effort. Someone who believes it's important to do so can take it to a church if they want to.
Some U.S. state constitutions prohibit deodands sa Wikipedia.
So once it's become a deodand it just disappears? Or maybe it just has to move to a different state (that'd be a bit "I'm alright Jack" as legislation goes).
I imagine you would get into trouble for making a deodand of a deodand, and then you'd probably discover they can get foot and mouth disease and it'll have to be killed.
