Does anyone in Cambridge have a USB Compact Flash reader that I could conveniently borrow to test? My Mac and my card reader have stopped talking to each other, but both will talk to other USB devices/hosts respectively. (I've already tried alternative cables and cards.)

I now have an offer, with good logistics.

I'm not in Cambridge, but surely buying one will cost you less than the cost of a taxi to bring it to you, no? I think ours cost 3.99...

And borrowing one off someone who is in Cambridge will cost even less than that.

Wasn't meaning to be obnoxious, sorry if that's how it came over. It's just that I've been caught out before going to trouble to borrow something and then feeling bad on finding out that the amount of trouble I was putting someone to was disproportionate, because I hadn't realised how cheap the thing was (in fact, this memory trace may even *be* attached to a card reader in my head).

You're welcome to borrow mine. Perse Way or DAMTP, whichever's more convenient.

Thanks, but I've been offered one with about maximally convenient logistics already l-)
