Some years ago I had a PC die on me out of the blue. On opening the case I discovered that the heatsink for the North Bridge had fallen off, and was sitting on the graphics card. One of the retaining clips for the heatsink had come off the motherboard, and was laying at the bottom of the case. I reattached it using a hot-glue gun - easier than taking the motherboard out and soldering it. Amazingly the PC has been fine ever since.
I wondered about that. I couldn't convince myself they were the same color though (i.e. by eye; they look visibly different in the photos, but of course this is not necessarily trustworthy.)
