Can we please declare a moratorium on the phrase “do you see what I did there”? Even when used ironically.

Minus forty-six minutes (according to lj timestamps), nunfetishist wins.

Ewx: Oh, I still like that one. I obviously haven't been exposed to a critical mass yet.

according to lj timestamps

I'm sure you know all this but if LiveJournal doesn't know anything about your timezone (or you are viewing in a style that doesn't do timezones) then it will display comment timestamps in GMT (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=156). However, the time on a journal entry is whatever time the poster typed into the relevant field (and if they didn't then it's usually auto-filled with the poster's local time).

Believe me when I tell you that the next internet buzzphrase will be "Believe me when I tell you".

Although a postcard lottery would be quite nice.

I think "I see what you did there" is OK, used ironically, but "do you see what I did there" sounds smug and should be stomped on.

I think I've only ever seen "do you see" used ironically, as in either "Look what an obvious comment I made, I do know it's obvious" or "Possibly that was _too_ subtle, so I'll mock myself". So sort of smug, but not actually superior in those cases.

If you can see what I did there, you're standing too close.

On balance: well done, you!
