Speakers? Gosh, no. I want lots of pixels, and good ones, and that's pretty much all I care about.

I have the same impression as you about the difference between the 2408WFP and, say, the E248 or whatever they call it.

Interesting illusion. Now that you mention it, my laptop feels like it has a bit more screen (relative to my desktop system) than it really has, and that could be why. Maybe I should get one of those laptops with the same pixel-count as the 2408, but that's a bit expensive.

It does seem to be that you get what you pay for with monitors, though once you get to a certain point you tend to be paying for one very specific area.

The cheap Dell monitors are not worth it, I've got one here at work and it's horrible. The more expensive Dell ones are okay. If you're doing anything where you need accurate colour then NEC have monitors that will point and laugh at the Dells, but you'll pay for them, If you want a 30" panel then you'll really pay for it.
