In the past, there have been reports of crocodiles killing leopards, but this is believed to the first time that the reverse scenario has been observed.

I think it was Stephen Jay Gould who pointed out that, despite this supposedly being the Age Of Mammals, reptiles are frequently the top predator in their niches.

My guess is that it was a revenge hit.

Either that, or the leopard was told crocodile meat tastes like chicken. And who doesn't love that?
