Yes, it's weird. It'd be nice if there were an option for showing link destinations using tooltips, to save the space used by the otherwise pointless status bar.
The things that annoy me are the loss of the blue progress bar in the background of the URL bar, and the reduced customization flexibility of the toolbar. I don't want a bookmark button, and I would like to be able to move the reload button.
