Granted, pigeons are a bit less exciting than robins.

…in fact it seems that even the pigeon finds itself boring.

(What is it doing? It kept doing this for a few minutes, as the other pictures show.)

Pigeons? Coo!

Not quite as boring as you might think: It's a wood pigeon, and not the rock pigeon you get in cities. (Compare the patterning on the wings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Pigeon).)

Still reasonably boring, though.

As was I, when I looked up the difference on Wikipedia some months ago...

Pigeons are alright. Admittedly I only recently realised that what I thought were a pair of wood pigeons that visit my feeder regularly are actually collared doves, but still. I also find the blackbirds fun to watch, so I guess there is no lower bound to my approval of feathered things. Or my knowledge thereof...

That sort of behaviour in birds is often associated with mating displays, although I have no special knowledge of woodpigeon behaviour.

Hmm. I didn’t spot another pigeon around at the time. But perhaps it was just practicing…
