ewxWe spent the last few days of our holiday in Bruges (not In Bruges l-). It has windmills:

We visited the Jeruzalemkerk:
We went up the Belfort, a serious climb though there is a lift for bits of it.

THe drum weighs 9 tons and has over 30,000 slots.
Safety features make taking decent photos from the top tricky, but here’s the view north towards Zeebrugge (“Bruges-on-sea”).
It’s visible from all over:
We went to the Groeningemuseum. I don’t seem to have taken many photos there.
Nearby were four horsemen.
We went to the Gruuthuse, among other things recalling Charles II’s stay in Bruges while in exile.
We visited Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (the Church Of Our Lady):
It’s famous for its Michaelangelo statue.

We visited the Sint-Janshospitaal.

I get the impression from this depiction that Salome hadn’t quite expected to get what she asked for.
We visited Sint-Salvatorskathedraal.
We had a look around the Stadhuis.
We visited the Begijnhof (no photos allowed inside).
Around Bruges
The local style of bike stand is not one I’d seen before:
There were elections on (also in Brussels, but I didn’t spot as concentrated a display of posters there):
There’s a lot of water:
There were a lot of lace shops…
…and chocolatiers, often with N’s nose glued to them:

N bought some cuddly toys early on, the hotel staff arranged them thus:
(“Bruges” is both the French and English spelling; in Flemish it’s “Brugge”.)
