Does anyone have any use for the following things?

  • 1.5TB USB2 external hard disk (the disk inside identifies as a Western Digital 15EADS)
  • 1.5TB 3.5" SATA hard disk (Seagate Barracuda 7200.11, formerly inside a USB enclosure)
  • 750GB 3.5" SATA hard disk (Hitachi, HDT721075SLA360)

All are fairly well used. (I have some PATA disks around too but I assume nobody still wants those.)

Terms: you collect.

Update: all now allocated...

I might be interested in the external drive - the thing I'm currently using at home is only 500G...

Potentially I have use for any and all of these that might be available (I'm moving my offline backups to hard drive and more drives is definitely a good thing), but it's really not likely I'd be able to collect on a sensible timescale. So I probably shouldn't have mentioned it.

I suspect M will beat you to collecting the external disk but I don't mind keep the rest around until someone happens to be able to play postman, if that's a realistic approach?

...also I've had a more local bid for the other 1.5TB drive. But the 750GB drive doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet.

Right, apparently [livejournal.com profile] bopeepsheep will be at Karen's wedding on Sat and with Vicky on Sun. If the drive were able to make it's way to either of those places without significant hassle to you, it could thence wend it's way too me.

I won't be at that wedding but we've still got a few days to identify someone willing who will be.
I may be being stupid but I don't think I have a default Vicky...?

After some discussion on #chiark: we have a plan which should get it to the wedding.

For your convenience, I have broken the chain by being ill the day of the wedding. Sorry about that. :-(

I think at this point it might be easier, unless you are in London routinely, to give me an address, and I'll wrap it in bubbles and post it. (It's already in a padded box...)

Sigh, dropped the ball twice by commenting when not logged in.

I managed to break the chain by being ill the day of the wedding. Sorry.

I could: bring it to London, if you're in London these days.

Post it, wrapped in bubblewrap and its padded box, to an address of your choice.

Pass it on to someone less germ-laden.

Not sure if [livejournal.com profile] pjc50 has poked you about any of these yet, but I gather he's interested in at least one of these, possibly the bigger SATA. I'll poke him about it later...

I have a use for PATA discs over 250G, actually, and would gladly collect same...

My notes say the largest PATA disk is 60G.
